If anyone ever asks for your FQ, that means they are trying to get to know you by learning your finger quotient.
Calculate your finger quotient by dividing the length of your index finger by the length of your ring finger. The result can indicate certain personality traits or health benefits and risks, according to Healthy Life Tricks and Discover magazine: Science for the Curious.
A result less than one means that the ring finger is longer than the index finger, like the A drawing in the Healthy Life Tricks graphic below. Studies have shown that having a longer ring finger indicates an increased athletic ability, a willingness to take risks, and a relatively high level of aggression. In men, this manifests as a tendency to be the initiator of aggressive action; in women, it indicates a tendency to react aggressively after being provoked.
A result greater than one (the index finger is longer than the ring finger, drawing B) may indicate a confident personality and certain health benefits, including a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer: 87 percent less risk for men less than 60 years old, and 33 percent less for those over 60, reports Discover magazine.
Healthy Life Tricks describes the personality of people whose index and ring fingers are the same length, like drawing C, as peace-loving and organized.
It’s not the length of the fingers that provides these traits — the fingers and the traits are produced by the same genetics.
